However, a 1751 deed reveals the area was originally called ‘a hammock and clump of cedars called Harvest Quarters.’ Over time, the phrase ‘Harvest Cedars’ may have been shortened in speech to ‘Harves Cedars,’ eventually evolving into ‘Harvey Cedars.’ Whether inspired by a real person or linguistic drift, the name carries the charm of this picturesque coastal town.
